Step-Parents Rights

On occasions, it is required for step-parents to have rights in respect of children, whether that is because they are involved in their lives by spending time with them, or because the children live with them.

If this is not agreed between the parents, or all those with parental responsibility for the children, the Children Act 1989 gives a mechanism for stepparents to seek the courts assistance on this issue. However, how this should be approached will depend on the particular circumstances of the case.
