Good Divorce Week 2021

We are members of Resolution, an organisation for family law professionals committed to working in a constructive and non-confrontational way.

Each year, through their Good Divorce Week, Resolution campaigns on a policy issue central to their principles. Good Divorce Week 2021 runs from 29 November – 3 December and this year Resolution are focusing on how parents can embrace a child-focused approach to separation.

Both this firm and Resolution recognise that a family break up can be very difficult to navigate. For a number of years we have offered a free 30 minute meeting to new clients of the firm to provide initial assistance and advice, often at challenging and overwhelming times for the family.

The Resolution website also has a wealth of useful information for families and this year through their Good Divorce Week, they are promoting their guide “Parenting through separation: Putting your child first.” This free guide is an excellent resource for parents going through a separation or divorce and helps from the very first steps through to the aim of achieving a good co-parenting relationship and assists parents to put the best interests of their children first. Resolution are realistic and recognise that there are often events along the journey which can pose issues and these are also addressed in the guide. Some of the topics covered in “Parenting through separation: Putting your child first” include:-

  • The end of the relationship and first steps to consider
  • Co-parenting
  • The voice of the child
  • Extended family
  • The types of dispute that might arise
  • Abusive relationships
  • Changes that might happen in the future
  • How successful arrangements could look
  • The options if you cannot agree
  • The legal position

We would encourage you to read the guide which can be found on the following link:-
