Disrepair

"Judge & Priestley have worked with us for approximately five years primarily in relation to legal disrepair cases. Judge & Priestley provide advice that is concise, logical and to the point." - Local Authority client

In early 2016 we were provided with some benchmarking information that one of our local authority disrepair clients (who use our firm exclusively for disrepair cases) undertook. The benchmarking exercise dealt with performance, value for money and workloads regarding disrepair cases over a three year period. Our client benchmarked against five other inner London organisations and the results showed that our client consistently had the lowest legal spend, lowest settlement spend and the lowest costs paid to opponents than the other organisations. The statistics took into account the variations in size of the organisations and respective budgets but our client’s service still was the most efficient and cost effective. This is a testament to our ethos of providing expert advice that represents best value for money for our clients.

We offer advice and assistance with all types of disrepair claim whether brought as a free standing claim or, as appears more often, a counter claim in other proceedings. These cases can often become protracted leading to wider issues and higher costs.

Our specialist team of qualified solicitors can advise you on all aspects of a claim in disrepair aiming to minimise risk and reduce your outlay.

We can assist you with the following:

  • Case overview and general assessment
  • Assessment of Liability
  • Advice on Quantum
  • Advice on Court proceedings
  • Analysis of Expert’s reports
  • Settlement negotiations
  • Mediation
  • Acting on your behalf throughout court proceedings
  • Dealing with costs issues following conclusion of the claim

We offer practical, pragmatic advice and understand the complexities involved in dealing with these cases. We are also aware of the pressures our social housing clients face regarding these claims and are able to ensure that they are handled expertly, professionally and individually.
