Lisa Bajric

Foreign Lawyer

Lisa joined Judge & Priestley as a Foreign Lawyer in the Private Client department and brings over 10 years’ experience in mental health and mental capacity law.

Experience

Lisa is admitted as a Lawyer of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and is registered with the Solicitors Regulation Authority as a Foreign Lawyer in England and Wales.

She represents clients in Court of Protection proceedings and is dedicated to safeguarding the rights of vulnerable individuals. She has particular expertise in the Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Care Act 2014, advising and representing clients across a wide range of complex issues.

Her areas of practice include:

  • Section 16 welfare proceedings
  • Section 21A deprivation of liberty challenges
  • Deputyship applications and disputes (property and affairs, health and welfare)
  • Gift applications
  • Trustee applications
  • Advice and disputes concerning care fees and funding
  • Challenges to community care provision and assessments
  • Section 117 aftercare funding disputes

Lisa’s academic background includes degrees in psychology and mental health studies, alongside her legal qualifications. She holds a Bachelor of Psychology from James Cook University, a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Southern Queensland, and an MSc in Mental Health Studies from the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London. She went on to complete her Juris Doctor (JD) at the University of New England, Armidale, Australia, and her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the College of Law, Sydney.

Outside of work

In her spare time, Lisa enjoys dog walks and playing squash.
