Experience
Alex is experienced in a broad range of litigation with particular specialism in professional negligence, commercial litigation and contentious probate. He has significant experience in negligence claims in the financial services sector, including cases against financial advisers and pension providers relating to negligent mis-selling and mismanagement of both pensions and investments.
Alex’s experience includes being involved in large financial services cases such as Worthing v Lloyds Bank Plc and Jackson v Leslie & Nuding, as well as the landmark case of Adams v Options UK Personal Pension UK LLP (formerly Carey Pensions UK LLP). He has experience of dealing with cases involving mis-sold pensions, mortgages, SIPP mis-selling and unregulated collective investment schemes. Alex’s experience in contentious probate includes successful claims brought under the actions under Inheritance (Provision for Family & Dependents) Act 1975 as well as claims involving undue influence, lack of capacity and want of knowledge and approval. Alex is also well versed in trust and property ownership disputes.
Alex has a forensic and flexible approach to resolving disputes and whilst he is dedicated towards reaching early resolutions for his clients, he is experienced in and capable of successfully guiding a matter though the litigation court process and, if necessary, to trial.
Clients have commented on Alex’s ability to clearly explain complicated legal issues in a manner that allows his clients to make informed decisions. Alex is aware of the stress and pressure that litigation can cause and strives to put clients at ease during this time.
Outside of work
In his spare time Alex likes spending time with his family (including two young and chaotic boys), football, socialising and acting.
