Busy Autumn in Chislehurst for newcomers Judge & Priestley Solicitors

Judge & Priestley Solicitors opened an office in Chislehurst in May this year and they have been busy getting involved in their new local community.

As part of their plan to become involved with local activities which raise money for charities, as well as enhancing their local presence, the firm has recently sponsored two main events: the Chislehurst Pumpkin Hunt and the Chislehurst Rotary Club’s annual Fireworks Display.

The Chislehurst Pumpkin Hunt organised by Visit Chislehurst, took place on 27th October.  Tickets for 500 children sold out in advance, with over 1000 people attending, all in their Halloween costumes. A total of £2,500 was raised for Demelza Hospice Care for Children. Chislehurst became a spooky spectacular as the participants and their parents, carers and friends, walked up and down the high-street locating participating businesses on their map.  There was a competition for the most ghoulish costume, and the lucky winner was Bobby who won a lovely hamper from Sweet Sundae and a family gift voucher for Gusto restaurant.

Judge & Priestley were located in the Age UK gardens and were the first stop for the children who were each given a bag of goodies.  Solicitors from the Private Client and Residential Conveyancing teams helped out.

“As a resident of Chislehurst for the last 19 years, I have been to this event before, but this year was something special.  There was a real community feel and the atmosphere was fantastic.  Demelza Hospice Care for Children is such a great charity providing vital care and support to families in such difficult circumstances” commented Nita Newsome, Marketing Manager from Judge & Priestley.

Chislehurst Rotary Club Fireworks took place on 4th November at the local recreation ground.  A total of 6,500 people came to watch the magnificent display.  The annual fireworks display is one of Chislehurst’s biggest events which has been run by the Chislehurst Rotary Club for over 35 years. With a funfair, dancing displays and food stalls, in addition to the main display, a great evening was had by all. In total the event raised £20,000 for local charities including: the Kent Air Ambulance, Kent Association for the Blind, Demelza Hospice Care, Bromley Women’s’ Aid, Child Aid and the British Heart Foundation as well as International projects such as Polio Plus.

“This was an event that we felt we had to support.  With such a big attendance from local families we really wanted to get involved and assist the local Rotary club and its supported charities.”
