Q. Following a car accident which was not my fault, I have been off work for a week with whiplash. As I am self employed, can I claim for loss of earnings?
A. Yes but you will need to have some documentary evidence to support the sum claimed. This is usually done by producing your accounts for the financial year in which the loss occurred and comparing them to the accounts for the previous financial year.
Q. I was knocked down by a drunk motorcyclist, who was not insured. Can I still make a claim?
A. Yes you can make a claim to the Motor Insurers Bureau which runs 2 schemes – the Uninsured Drivers Agreement and the Untraced Drivers Agreement.
