Relationship and family disputes can be a difficult time for everyone involved. Judge & Priestley LLP believes that family law is not simply another form of litigation and therefore needs to be handled by people who are not only knowledgeable in the field but also able to provide support at what will be a distressing time.
Whether it be resolving issues before cohabitation commences, helping to sort out the consequences of a relationship breakdown, guiding you through a divorce or dealing with child related issues, we have extensive experience in this specialised area of law and will provide authoritative and sensitive advice on matters of finance, property and children.
Our aim is to provide a friendly personal service, which meets your needs whilst seeking to reduce conflict between the parties. Our family law solicitor is a member of Resolution (formerly known as “Solicitors Family Law Association”) with an accredited code of conduct and we can offer the benefits of mediation as an alternative means of resolving issues.
Initial appointments are offered at a fixed fee where we assess the merits of your case and provide preliminary advice. Thereafter a dedicated solicitor will handle the case so that specialist advice will always be available. It is our policy to ensure that as far as possible, you are represented at Court hearings by an experienced member of the department. The nature and timing of some hearings may however mean that a barrister will be booked to attend on your behalf and we have a close relationship with a number of barristers specialising in the field of family law.
Given the expertise and experience of our family law solicitor, our fees are very competitive. During our initial appointment we will give you an estimate of the costs and timelines involved. This will be confirmed in writing and throughout your case, we will provide regular cost updates and assessments on further costs to be incurred so that you are able to keep track of the costs at all times.
Our specialist mediator, Thowheetha Shaah, is an accredited Specialist Member of Resolution, a Member of the Law Society Family Law panel and now a Member of the UK College of Mediators. Thowheetha has helped hundred of couples resolve their difficulties through the mediation process and she was the first female solicitor trained by Resolution to qualify as a mediator in the Bromley Borough.
We believe that decisions should be made by you and not by the Courts, and we therefore believe that mediation is a cost-effective alternative to litigation. This practice is promoted by the Court and we aim to assist you every step of the way.
